Why Pass It Forward?

We cannot enact change alone. At Ascent Studio, we look to inspire, empower, and connect with our members to cultivate an inclusive space for all. We seek to give access to communities that would substantially benefit from the experiences we can offer at our facility. Climbing instills confidence, offers valuable mental and physical awareness, requires trusting others, and fosters a supportive community. These opportunities should be afforded to anyone who wishes to partake in this exciting sport, and Ascent Studio aims to do our part in working towards a more inclusive, equitable, and diverse climbing community at our facility. We hope that our new Pass It Forward Program is the first step in many to achieve this goal.

As a business that promotes an accepting and supportive community, it is our duty to be advocates for the diversity, equity, and inclusion movement or DEI movement. We strive to be able to provide the indoor climbing experience to as many as we can reach, no matter your age, race, gender, orientation, or socioeconomic status. We understand that cost is a significant barrier for most when considering recreational activities, such as rock climbing. There are many populations that are under-represented in the climbing community and this can in some part be attributed to the financial cost found at rock climbing gyms around the globe. We are missing an opportunity to share not just our passion for climbing, but to share the mental and physical health benefits we, ourselves, have felt in our lives due to climbing. Don’t you think everyone should have the chance to experience that? We sure do.

Gettin' with the Program

Every month our members are given 1 guest pass to use on whomever they choose to

bring to the gym for a day of climbing. You may not realize this, but many of those guest passes go unused every month. So, here is your chance to take part and make a difference in the lives of others. Maybe you know you are not going to need/use that guest pass this month? Or maybe it is the end of the month and it will go to waste anyway. We encourage you to donate your guest pass to the current spotlight organization we have partnered with. The local nonprofit organizations that we partner with will be organizations that aid underserved youth, underserved communities, the physically and/or mentally disabled, veterans, and any other community that could benefit from the experience of rock climbing.

What Ascent Provides

Ascent Studio will coordinate with these organizations to set goals for how many guest passes will need to be raised and work with specific timelines suited best for the organization. Ascent Studio will donate an instructor and rental gear as needed. If guest pass goals are not met by the deadline, Ascent Studio will donate the remaining passes.

By empowering each other to be a part of making a difference in the lives of others, we build a support system from the inside-out and create a safe space for anyone entering our doors.

Other ways to donate

Day passes earned through Bike Benefits, Refer-A-Friend, at an on or off-site event, or because you found an extra day pass in the parking lot. Want to donate directly to the spotlight organization? Check out their info below and follow the link to their website!
