Construction Week 6

Construction Week 6

Snow and concrete were the highlights of this last week, which don’t make a great combination. Still, we were able to pour more of our foundation. The blizzard was a snow day for everyone at the job site (snowmen excepted), and in its wake we were left with some very wet conditions. The site was incredibly muddy on Thursday, making vehicle access difficult, but with a concrete pump we were still able to deliver concrete to the forms. The guys at French Concrete were then back out there Friday morning to remove the forms and prep for the next week of concrete work. The snow slowed us down, but not as much as it could have.

One highlight of last week was the arrival of the steel for the building. Over the course of the week, several semi-trailer loads of steel were delivered from GEM‘s fabrication facility in Utah, including one shipment that arrived just before the highways were closed. Unfortunately this wasn’t captured by the camera, since the steel is currently being stored on the neighboring lot, obscured from view by our small mountain of dirt. As soon as the concrete foundation is allowed time to cure, Evergreen will begin erecting the steel for the building. In the meantime, they’re out there sorting through the huge pieces of steel and doing the final welding work in advance of assembly.

Each second of the video corresponds to 30 minutes of real-time footage (30 frames per second, 1 minute between frames). YouTube will let you change the playback speed if you want to see things more slowly. If you’ve got the bandwidth, you can also boost the resolution all the way up to 4K! We’ll release a video every week, so stay tuned for the next construction update.
